Dordaak Kepup Library

The facility houses a modern library, flexible learning areas, dynamic youth spaces, staff amenities and a commercial kitchen, all designed to foster intergenerational engagement and innovation. Throughout the construction process, we adhered to the highest standards of safety and quality, ensuring the vision for this space was brought to life with precision and care. The design incorporates curved ceilings and walls throughout, creating a flowing, cohesive space that encourages a sense of openness and connection. The building was carefully planned to complement its surroundings, with a beautifully landscaped outdoor area linking the building to the parkland. In the evenings, external façade lighting adds a striking visual element to the building, making it a beacon for the local area.

One of the key challenges was the integration of curved architectural features, including the building envelope, canopies, perforated screen façades and external façade lighting. These complex forms required detailed planning and careful coordination between trades to ensure the precise installation of structural elements, services and finishes. Our team expertly managed the installation of these architectural features, ensuring the design intent was brought to life seamlessly. The project’s key functional features, such as the flexible learning areas, youth innovation hub, and changing places facility, required careful coordination of services, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and specialised systems. Swan Group prioritised seamless collaboration between all trades to ensure the highest quality standards were met, effectively blending architectural design with practical functionality.

Given the facility’s location and its proximity to active community spaces—such as a public park and commercial areas—the project also required careful attention to site logistics. We implemented a highly effective traffic management plan, scheduled noisy activities during off-peak hours, and ensured the site was secure, clean, and safe at all times. Our team worked closely with the local community to minimize any disruptions and ensure the construction process ran smoothly.

The Dordaak Kepup Library and Youth Innovation Hub is now a vital community hub for the City of Wanneroo, providing a space for culture, learning, and intergenerational connection.
