Swan Group successfully delivered the refurbishment of the Auto-Boarding Gates within Terminal 1 Airside, encompassing works to Gates 50, 51, 52, 54, 55 and 56, together with the supply and installation of new gate joinery.

The scope included full integration of gate hardware with the Amadeus ACUS software platform, reconfiguration of boarding area layouts to optimise passenger flow and operational efficiency, and the installation of new Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), tensa barriers, signage and seating modifications.
Comprehensive enabling works were undertaken, including upgrades to electrical, communications and power infrastructure, as well as slab modifications to facilitate new service reticulation. The works also incorporated the careful removal and reuse of existing fittings where appropriate, installation of new joinery and balustrading, fire systems integration, structural steel fabrication, and the reinstatement of all affected finishes, including tiles, carpet, wall linings and ceilings, ensuring seamless integration with the existing terminal environment.
Delivered within a fully operational terminal, the project required meticulous staging and coordination with airport stakeholders. Temporary hoardings were progressively installed to maintain safe separation between construction activities and passenger areas. This disciplined delivery methodology ensured all gates remained operational throughout the works, safeguarding safety, security and passenger experience while achieving a high-quality, fully integrated outcome.
