Mental Health Unit Refurbishment

Swan delivered the Sub-Acute Mental Health Unit (MHU) Ligature Remediation Project while the high security facility remained entirely occupied and operational throughout construction.

It was imperative that all areas renovated complied with contemporary Licensing and Accreditation Regulatory Unit (LARU), anti-ligature, clinical and amenity standards. Works included Ensuite/WC redevelopments, cabinetwork/bedscreen enhancements, door/ hardware upgrades and services upgrades to meet anti-ligature and clinical compliance across twelve Bedrooms/Ensuites, two Communal Toilets and five Corridor Clinical Handbasins.

To enable the high security MHU to operate seamlessly and without undue disruption, Swan scheduled the works to take possession of just two Bedrooms/Ensuites at any one time while allowing enough time for the required patient relocations between each of the six stages.

The care, thorough planning and health expertise implemented by Swan resulted in a highly successful project under challenging conditions.
