Australia Post Industrial Works Program

Swan was engaged by Australia Post to deliver industrial fitout works across three of its operational WA sites: Perth Airport, Kewdale and Malaga.

Location: Perth Airport, Kewdale & Malaga
Designers: MODE
Size: Various
Duration: 20 weeks
These sites form part of Australia Post’s broader logistics and distribution network, with facilities that operate around the clock. The program scope included warehouse extensions, fitouts of amenities, upgrades to site infrastructure, and installation of critical industrial components. While each site had distinct requirements, the overall project was delivered as a coordinated works program, managed under a unified approach. Working within active environments required detailed planning and communication. With operations continuing uninterrupted throughout construction, Swan staged all works to minimise disruption and prioritise site safety. The sequencing of works was critical to ensuring each facility remained accessible and operational at all times.

Fitout, infrastructure and services upgrades

At each location, Swan undertook a combination of internal and external upgrades designed to support Australia Post’s operational efficiency. The internal works focused on fitouts to staff amenities, aligning existing facilities with updated functional requirements. This included construction and refurbishment works to improve usability, hygiene and overall site comfort. The upgrades were integrated into existing buildings and required careful interface management to avoid impacts on daily site use. Externally, Swan delivered warehouse extensions to expand storage and processing capacity. New car parks were constructed to support workforce growth and vehicle access. These works were designed and delivered to complement the existing layouts and traffic flows, while maintaining compliance with access and safety standards. Additional upgrades included the installation of new roller shutters, louvre systems and industrial fans. These elements were selected to enhance ventilation, improve environmental performance and streamline access to key operational areas. Integration of these systems into live facilities required close coordination with Australia Post’s operational and maintenance teams.

Delivered with minimal disruption

A key challenge of this program was executing multiple packages of work across different locations, all of which remained operational. Swan’s project team developed site-specific staging plans that accounted for local site conditions, logistics and ongoing facility use. This careful sequencing allowed Swan to maintain a low-impact construction footprint, working around peak periods and site access requirements. Construction activities were isolated from operational areas through physical separation, signage and managed access points. Communication with site representatives was maintained throughout, ensuring alignment with Australia Post’s expectations and minimising any unplanned disruptions. The collaborative approach across teams ensured each phase of work was completed safely, within the expected timelines, and to the required standards. Across all three sites, the outcomes reflected Swan’s focus on consistency, communication and execution. The program demonstrated Swan’s capability in managing multi-site fitout works within operational environments, delivering practical upgrades that met the client’s functional needs.
