Curtin Connect, Curtin University

The project was delivered in five separate portions across four buildings: 101, 102, 200B and 302.

Location: Curtin University, Bentley
Designers: Geyer
Size: 10,000 m²
Duration: 40 weeks
Each space had a distinct operational requirement and served a specific university function. The purpose of the fitout was to bring together previously dispersed services and create a unified, student-facing environment that could respond more efficiently to the needs of both new and current students. Building 101 was fitted out for Student Services, providing front-facing interaction points for student enquiries. Building 102 was transformed into the main Curtin Connect hub, centralising the university’s contact points into one location. These two buildings formed the operational heart of the Curtin Connect service model. In addition to the student-facing zones, internal fitouts were completed in Building 200B to accommodate Curtin Information Technology Services (CITS) Desktop Team and Human Resources. This involved creating functional office environments for technical and administrative staff. Building 302, containing a theatre, was also upgraded as part of the broader fitout program. All works were delivered within live university buildings and required careful management of noise, access and safety considerations to minimise disruptions to day-to-day campus activity.

Complex coordination across services and stakeholders

The Curtin Connect project involved the relocation of staff, integration of service teams and the consolidation of student operational functions into a centralised format. More than 300 Curtin University staff and stakeholders were directly impacted by the project works. Swan Group worked closely with university representatives to ensure each phase of the fitout aligned with the broader operational objectives of the initiative. Internal and external service providers were engaged throughout the project. Swan was responsible for coordinating these inputs to ensure works progressed within required timelines and to the standards expected by Curtin University. This included aligning fitout schedules with staff relocation plans and managing interfaces between separate work zones within the precinct.

External works supporting the student transition pathway

In addition to the internal fitouts, Swan Group delivered external landscaping works to support Curtin University’s redesigned student transition pathway. These landscape works formed part of the wider precinct improvements and helped integrate the new Curtin Connect facilities into the broader flow of pedestrian traffic within the campus. The combined scope of internal and external works delivered under the Curtin Connect project has provided Curtin University with a consolidated service environment, aligned to its long-term campus planning strategy.
