East Metropolitan Women’s Refuge

Swan Group was engaged to deliver the construction of the East Metropolitan Women's Refuge, a project comprising 18 independent living units, communal buildings, and extensive external works.

Location: East Metropolitan, WA
Designers: Whitehaus, Stantec, BEST Consulting, GSA Engineering
Size: 5,000m2
The scope of the project required Swan Group to manage all aspects of site construction, including excavation, foundation work, and the erection of structural elements for the residential units and communal areas.

The internal fit-out was meticulously executed to provide secure, comfortable living spaces, focusing on high-quality finishes and functional layouts to meet the needs of domestic violence survivors. The communal buildings were designed with safety and accessibility in mind, including secure entry points, private consultation rooms, and communal spaces for residents to gather in a supportive environment.

Externally, Swan Group completed extensive landscaping and site infrastructure, including paved walkways, secure fencing, and lighting installations to enhance both the security and aesthetic appeal of the refuge. Hydraulic and electrical services were integrated seamlessly into the construction, ensuring all buildings were compliant with safety standards and functional for long-term use.

Swan Group’s expertise in managing sensitive environments ensured that the project was delivered to the highest standards of safety and quality, creating a safe haven for vulnerable women and children.
