Little Creatures Bar and Kitchen, Perth Airport

Swan Group completed the refurbishment of Little Creatures Bar and Kitchen located within the Perth Airport precinct.

Location: Terminal 1, Perth Airport
Designers: Nicola Gibson Architect
Size: 282 m²
Duration: 5 weeks
This fitout project was delivered within the existing footprint of the venue and focused on upgrading and modernising two key areas: the commercial kitchen and the bar and dining areas.

Commercial kitchen upgraded with new equipment and services

In the commercial kitchen, the works were aimed at replacing outdated infrastructure and improving functionality. Old equipment was removed and replaced with new installations to meet the operational requirements of a modern kitchen. Stainless-steel benches were fitted throughout, ensuring durability, hygiene, and compliance with commercial kitchen standards. In addition to the physical upgrades, Swan Group also coordinated the necessary building services enhancements. This included improvements to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, integrated to support the new kitchen layout and equipment. All upgrades were completed within the constraints of the existing structure, requiring precise coordination with trades and suppliers.

Bar and dining area reconfigured and refreshed

In the front-of-house area, Swan Group executed a full refurbishment of the bar and dining spaces. This included a reconfiguration of the layout to improve the flow and functionality of the venue. New bar fixtures were installed, and a refreshed design approach was implemented across the space. The refurbishment scope included re-tiling various surfaces, installing new lighting fixtures, and arranging new seating to enhance the overall ambience of the venue. All finishes and selections were made to align with the operational needs and brand requirements of the venue operator. The project’s objective was to deliver a welcoming and functional hospitality space, without expanding the venue’s footprint. Every design and construction element was addressed within the constraints of the existing site, demonstrating efficient use of available space.

Works delivered safely within live airport environment

The refurbishment took place within an operational airport environment, requiring careful planning and site management. Swan Group maintained a strong focus on public safety, access, and operational continuity throughout the project. Key logistical considerations included managing deliveries within airport protocols, coordinating works in accordance with permit requirements, and adhering to airport-specific scheduling and access restrictions. Joinery timelines and trade sequencing were tightly managed to reduce disruption to adjacent airport operations and public areas. Close coordination with stakeholders and subcontractors ensured that works progressed without impacting airport traffic or passenger flow. The project was delivered within the planned schedule, with no compromise to safety or quality. By completing the refurbishment with minimal disruption to live operations, Swan Group demonstrated its capability to deliver complex fitouts in secure, high-traffic environments.
